Hey, Gulls!

Wow, here we are. Finally launching our little website.

You’ve probably had a nosey around by now. So you should know the basics. We’re a worker’s co-operative, we are trans led, we are trying to do things differently.

But, what you don’t know yet - what we will sell (arguably important) and how we got to here.

What we sell is pretty easy. We will sell vegetarian and vegan products, fresh fruit and veg, cheese, milk, eggs, refillable pasta, rice, seeds, household goods. Loads of chocolate including a massive range of vegan treats, coffee, and loose-leaf tea. Of course, none of that is in the shop yet - launch details to come.

How we got here is pretty easy too.

I wanted to build a worker’s co-op after seeing how Covid-19 exacerbated difficult job situations and highlighted problems in retail that we had always noticed but never felt we could fix.

Luna was on board from the moment I spoke to them about the idea. It’s very good to have smart friends.

From there, it was five months of conversation, ideas, research, creativity, cups of tea, and paperwork until we finally found our shop on Ferry Road. We took on a fixer upper because it came with shelves and fridges (woohoo) and called in our very helpful friends and family to help.

I can’t say it's been a glamorous process. But, we learned so many DIY skills and we got to dance to some surprisingly terrible music.

We are now about a month away from opening and hope you’ll stay up to date with our final touches by signing up to the mailing list.

And, oh yes! We are doing introductions on Instagram - so head over there to say “Hey, Gull's!” and stay tuned for a chance to win 25% off at our launch event in January.

Thank you for your support. We can't wait to share more with you.
